Geneva History Museum Announces Staffing Changes & Job Opening

The Geneva History Museum (GHM) is pleased to introduce Markie Striegel as our new full-time Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, Gayle Meers as our new part-time Archivist and a job opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant. 

Markie Striegel brings over eight years of museum and collections experience. Originally from Bradley, Illinois, her history background began as she studied at Northern Illinois University. While there, Markie received both her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies. She worked for three years as the Graduate Assistant for the Center for Burma Studies at NIU, caring for more than 3,000 art objects within the Burma Art Collection, and assisting with the development and installation of over ten exhibitions. Her duties at the Center allowed her multiple travel opportunities to Southeast Asia where she worked with local non-profits and universities exhibiting, presenting on and surveying art objects.  Markie previously worked for The Pick Museum of Anthropology at NIU and the Kankakee County Museum in Kankakee, IL.  Markie can be reached via email at

Markie replaces the GHM Curator, Jessica Strube, who is moving with her family to Nebraska as Exhibits Manager for History Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Gayle Meers has been with GHM since 2013 as Museum Technician and has now taken on a new role as part-time Archivist.  With a Master’s of Library and Information Science from Dominican University, Gayle will provide research services upon appointment.  Gayle’s new email address is

Vanessa Quillinan has been with GHM since 2012 as the Administrative Assistant.  She will continue as part-time Financial Assistant, which opens up the part-time position of Administrative Assistant. (click link for job description).  Vanessa will continue with her current email address

The Geneva History Museum is a non-profit organization located at 113 South Third Street with a mission to preserve and share Geneva’s evolving story while inspiring and engaging the community.  Gallery hours are Tuesdays thru Saturdays with special summer hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August 17.
